Ventura Pier - Ventura, California
The Ventura Pier is an important part of California history. It was originally built to serve steamships and was important to the transportation of people, their goods when moving in or out of Ventura, and a way to ship off produce to market without having to cross the mountains.
If you are coming to the Ventura Pier to fish, you will be glad to know that there are many different places where you can clean your catch of the day. There are public restrooms, snack bars, and a bait shop. All of this is provided by the City of San Buenaventura to make your visit here an enjoyable one.
The pier is open 24 hours every day. You can park in the provided parking lot for $1 an hour or for $5 all day.
To get to the Ventura Pier, take Highway 101 to the Seaward exit and go west until you come to Harbor Drive, turn right and it will take you to the pier.
Don’t worry about packing a lunch when you come to the pier, they have a really nice restaurant on the dock and a taco bar right beside it. You can find anything you want to eat within walking distance of the pier.
The pier is handicapped accessible from the main road that goes in front of the pier. You can’t access the pier from the parking lot because there are several flights of stairs you must climb to get to the pier. Just make sure if you have someone who is handicapped with you that you drop them off before parking.
