The Pacheco State Park is located at 38787 Dinosaur Point Road, Hollister, California.
Paula Fatjo the great-granddaughter of Franchisco Pacheco donated almost 7000 acres to the State of California so that others could continue to enjoy the same nature and experiences that her family had enjoyed for five generations. She wanted the land to remain unspoiled forever so donating her family’s land was a way to ensure it would always stay the same.
Of the 7000 acres of land that was donated in 1992, only 2,600 of them are open to the public at this time.
This California State Park is loaded with history and culture of the area. Remains of Henry Miller’s cattle company and the Pacheco adobe are both examples of the things to do and see while you are at Pacheco State Park. There are 28 miles of trails inside the park that range from one mile to more than twenty miles
You will also find a wind turbine farm on the State Park land that generates clean electrical power for 3,500 homes.
Animals that call this park home are tule elk, deer, coyote, fox, hawks, golden eagles, bobcats and many other smaller animals and insects. In the winter and spring months of the year, you can see cattle grazing as they have done since 1843.
You can plan your day trip to the Pacheco State Park any day of the year because the park is open everyday from 8 am until the sunsets. There is a $5 per car charge for every day you plan to visit the park. |
