Many of San Francisco’s attractions are accessible from the Fisherman’s Wharf area. While it would only take about an hour to walk the distance designated as Fisherman’s Wharf, you can’t just walk through this area without stopping at several of the tourist attractions found here.
Things to do in Fisherman’s Wharf:
Fishing in the Bay is a popular thing to do for many people who come to this area. You can fish off of the pier or book a fishing tour that goes out on a boat. Some people simply enjoy getting up early and watching the fisherman come in with their catch for the day.
Ripley’s Believe It or Not is located at 175 Jefferson. Bring the kids here to see all the oddities housed in this popular San Francisco destination.
There is a Wax Museum here that many people come to Fisherman’s Wharf to see. You will find United States Presidents and other famous people along with celebrity figures carved out of wax that look so real you will be able to fool your friends with pictures.
Another great museum in this area is the San Francisco Maritime National Historic Park. You’ll see lots of interesting exhibits and seafaring artifacts inside the Maritime Museum. There is a fleet of historic vessels to look at and a visitor center where you can get some great historic information on this area.
Other things you won’t want to miss while you are at Fisherman’s Wharf include the Boudin Bakery, Musee Mecanique, The Cannery Shopping Center, Hyde Street Pier, Pier 39, San Francisco Cable Cars, Ghirardelli Square, Forbes Island, USS Pampanito, and the Balclutha whaling ship.
