San Francisco Cable Car
The San Francisco cable cars have 3 different routes. You can get on one at the beginning or end of a route or anywhere along the path that there is a brown and white cable car stop sign.
The California Street line goes from the Financial District right through Chinatown and over Nob Hill to stop at Van Ness Avenue. You’ll see signs painted on these cable cars that let you know you are getting on the right one. Since parking is almost non-existent in Chinatown, this is a great means of transportation to go and spend the day there.
The other two routes both take off from the same place, at Powell and Market Streets. One route will be marked with a red sign and the other with a yellow. They both go to Fisherman’s Wharf but in different locations. The yellow one stops at Bay and Taylor and the red one at Hyde and Beach.
Passes are available for those of you want to use this as your main means of transportation while vacationing in San Francisco, California. One day passes are $13, three day passes are $20 and for $26 you can get a seven day pass. Otherwise it’s $5 each way without a pass. The passes also provide you with the option of riding on streetcars and buses making them a very economical way of getting around in San Francisco. The pass makes it easy to make sure you can see all of the local tourist attractions while you are there without having to rent a car. |
