California State Military Museum and Resource Center
The California Military Museum became the state’s official military museum in 2004 when Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed legislation making it so.
You will find over 30,000 military artifacts along with all the library and archives.
The main facility is located in Sacramento but there are also other satellite museums located at different military bases throughout the state.
It’s a great preservation of over 200 years of Californians’ proud tradition of service to the military. It’s also a part of the United States Army Museum System. Anyone interested in the history of California’s military or just a fan of the military in general is encouraged to visit.
You can visit the Military Museum Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from 10:00am until 5:00pm. Friday and Saturdays they open at 10:00 am but don’t close until 6:00pm giving you an extra hour to enjoy the museum.
It’s one of the cheaper things to do in California. Admission is only $5.00 and for children ages 6-17 and seniors 55 and older it’s only $3.00. Kids under 5 is completely free. Veterans and members of the Armed Forced with a current identification card also get in free. Anyone can get in for free on Memorial Day and Veterans Day.
