If you want to visit the Joshua Tree National Park, you should know that there are 3 entrances into the park. Two are off of Highway 62 and the Southern entrance is off of Interstate 10. You can fly into Palm Springs and rent a car to get you there if you don’t plan on driving to California. The park is open 365 days a year but the best time to visit is in the fall through spring seasons because of the high temperatures in the summer. The wildflowers in the spring make it the best time to visit if you are wanting to see the beauty they display.
The Joshua Tree National Park in California may look just like any other part of the desert in this area but there are so many things to do here that you could spend a few days just soaking it all in.
A hiking trip on one of the many trails in Joshua Tree is always a good plan for a day trip. You can pack a lunch and enjoy the whole day exploring all that the park has to offer. See wildflowers, natural desert habitat, or head into the backcountry.
You can take your mountain bike if you want to travel more ground in a shorter amount of time because there are tons of dirt paths that are less congested than the paved paths in the park are.
It’s also a great place to go rock-climbing or just to watch the others who are climbing one of the 400 rock formations. As long as you are trained properly and have the right equipment, you will find a challenge waiting for you at the Joshua Tree National Park.
If you don’t have a whole day to spend, you can see most of the areas of the park from the comfort of your car. Just be sure to stop in at the visitor center so that you can plan your route. You will find they offer many places to park your car along the way and take a short nature walk so that you can stretch your legs and get in touch with nature.
If you are looking to spend your entire vacation in the Joshua Tree National Park, you will find the perfect place to camp in one of the 9 campgrounds or you can backpack out to the backcountry if you are that adventurous. Just remember that you have to supply everything yourself, including water because there is nowhere to get it in the backcountry.
Most people who only drive by the park would never guess that it holds so many interesting things to do and see. It’s truly a place you have to visit for yourself to see the many wonders it holds. |
