In Calistoga, California you have one of the most beautiful settings of any of the Old Faithful Geysers in the world. That is what makes it one of the most popular things to do in the Napa Valley area. Lots of people include Old Faithful in a day trip that also involves the Petrified Forest and other Napa Valley Wineries. There are so many things to do and see in this area that is definitely worth planning a day trip for you and your family when in California.
You have the beautiful Palisades Mountains and Mount Saint Helena in the skyline behind the geyser to set the stage for the show. You can bring a picnic lunch to eat while you are waiting and enjoy the view from one of the picnic tables provided at the park. There are also plenty of chairs spread out so that you can sit and enjoy the view of the thousands of gallons of water that will spew into the air from this amazing geyser.
Visit the gift shop to grab a snack or a souvineer for those who didn't get to come and witness this for themselves or just for a momento to add to your collection of traveling souvineers.
You can also see fainting goats, sheep and llamas there too. They have them set up in a petting zoo environment so that you can get up close and personal with them.
The park opens at 9am every day of the week, all year long so that no matter when you are visiting the area, you can get a chance to see this spectacular show for yourself. It's only $10 for an adult to get in, and then there are special prices for seniors of $7 and children ages 6-12 are only $3 with anyone under the age of 6 getting in for free.
Make sure you add this to your list of things to do in California if you are going to be traveling near the Napa Valley area.
